Thanks. It is a "Princess" Class. Here's a couple better shots... I also picked up a couple Dapol "wagons"; they are actually very nice. Just sort of messing around (or would that be "mucking about") with some British stuff... Mark in Oregon
I have been collecting HO scale cars for over 30 years. I model the transition era, set in late summer of 1957 and have no vehicles newer than 1957. In recent years some excellent highly detailed vehicles have been introduced. Here are two of my latest acquisitions. A 1937 La Salle and a 1953 Studebaker Champion in red. I already have the Studebaker in blue.
Very nice. Have been to the BOS website. Going to have to save a bit for those and definitely need to get their Willys Jeep in the Michigan State Police livery first (Yeah it's accurate. Found a photo online.).
Another piece of "British Iron"; this is a Bachmann "Branchline" Class N: Before: And after: I got this on Ebay "good for parts"; it was absolutely filthy, and of course, didn't run. A couple fun-filled hours of cleaning and the like, and it now runs really well; is missing a few parts, but with any luck... Oh, and here are those Dapol "wagons": I weathered the "7 Plank" coal car, and left the milk tanker "as is". I don't know if you can tell by my crappy picture, but the detail on these is really nice. I'm somewhat bemused by the logo on the Class N's tender... it's neither Southern Railways or British Railways.
If my research is correct, I believe it's lettered for the Irish Railway. Also, since that picture was taken, I have repaired those broken handrail posts; looks much better now. Mark in Oregon
Interesting... given that the N Class was built for the SECR in 1917-23 and then SR from 1924-34, I thought it only ever ran on SECR/SR rails. But then I discovered that from a batch of 50 built at Woolwich in 1924, "33 were sold with 17 spare for suture projects" - so it's possible that the Class N did run on Irish rails after all...
Got a notification on my phone from ebay on the Northern Pacific F7 A and B unit. Really didn't need it and put in a starting bid of $30. Ended up getting them for the $30. They are used, but having had ridden on the North Coast Limited on a regular basis when I was a kid I am fond of them. Problem is that I really don't need them.
This came the other day...Rivarossi C420: It didn't run upon arrival (just needed to be cleaned up a bit), now runs VERY smooth and quiet. Is obviously missing some hand rails, but am hopeful someone will have a spare set they'll send me for my birthday. I've had my fair share of Rivarossi locos over the years; very few diesels, as they aren't all that good (in my opinion, anyway). This loco, however, is as quiet as my Katos, and is a great runner. Who'd have guessed? Mark in Oregon
Just picked up this nice Rivarossi Heisler today. All I need to do is change the road name on it and add a sound decoder to this and my shay and they will be ready for a nice double header.
The shop had it on clearance. Regular 239.99 marked at 149.99. Couldn’t resist. Have wanted one of these for a few years now.
That’s a good price. I remember seeing them for sale in the MR magazines way back for about $75. I thought that was outrageous.
Kevin, Anderson, you can't go wrong with Rivarossi locos. I broke down and bought one recently too. Still waiting on delivery, so pardon the size of the image I stole from the auction place. An East German 0-8-8-0. = 131.21 shipping included. Pretty excited to get my first Mallet ever!
