Still a darn steep price for just one shell (and roof, apparently). These are not so hard to find. It is the underparts, particularly the truss rods, that are darned hard to find.
Here's a seller that is trying to win the lottery. Most of his prices are...wishful thinking. He quotes the former auction prices in the ad, but most of those prices are pre-2008 collapse. https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?ite...tfv&_ssn=jointlinenscale&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc Examples: A MT Illinois State car for $210 https://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-Micro-...673124?hash=item2efce9c024:g:mnYAAOSw9GhYdM6r A bunch of reefers all over $150 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kadee-J-MT...745249?hash=item1eceb14e21:g:caAAAOSwTUVZrAMX Graphitti box cars for over $100 https://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-Micro-...087695?hash=item2ee1d153cf:g:DLAAAOSwLEtYggYn Some cars (like this one) I was still able to find on line (for $35) but according to his listing, the high auction price was $82 (so he's asking $82) https://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-Micro-...541978?hash=item2f09f56c9a:g:~2EAAOSw-81ZnA06 and this one. High auction is $68 so he's asking $68 https://www.ebay.com/itm/MTL-Micro-...681581?hash=item2ef57687ed:g:tLAAAOSwX61ZI4AQ
Under N scale freight cars...the listing says its for the dog, but is the freight car the vehicle it's already in? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-underP...976234?hash=item1c809ed16a:g:gqcAAOSw4A5Y2HJq
"Like new condition"...looking at the SP flat (listing is for 2 MT flat cars), it appears that the boards have been installed (possibly glued) and broken off in the stake pockets, and the price seems rather optimistic as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-MICRO-TR...364237?hash=item568c51e30d:g:oTMAAOSwgZ1XwhmB
Nothing "like new" about at least the left car of those two. Runners, Rapidos, well used. Worth well under ten dollars.
"Weathered on one side at one end, with the trucks weathered as well. Looks like a nice job!". Looks like it was damaged and paint is missing. Who 'weathers' one end of one side of a passenger car? https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Ar...616825?hash=item3af6f90039:g:6zAAAOSw44BYgY7n
Um, aren't those supposed to have Knuckle couplers? After all that's what micro trains is all about. my guess is those are cheap lifelike or model power flats that just he just happened to have matching MT boxes for.
At one time in the distant past of N scale, I believe Kadee (before MTL was separate) offered their cars with Rapido couplers, for modelers who wanted them. Hard to believe. The past is a foreign country.
Here's a real doozie. Someone thought, "Retails for $150 on the box? Broken pieces & a mangled driveline? better start 'er off at $199!" https://www.ebay.com/itm/Model-Powe...985130&hash=item41d4af52a9:g:HIUAAOSwIJlZ9iC5
https://www.ebay.com/itm/101546-mic...888439&hash=item25e572d780:g:QGEAAOSwRwhZsqAu To be more "specific", it is "Union Pacific", and not "undecorated."
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Trai...482694?hash=item21335a6446:g:ES4AAOSwhVxaFrwn Maybe this is "Christmas present buying season," but this listing sure isn't "Black Friday" pricing, considering that he is asking $750 for stuff that is available elsewhere on eBay for less than $600, total. Nice items, but those locos probably never pulled those cars on the prototype, anyway. Well, maybe some of them on the Washingtonian in the mid 1950s, once the Columbian and Ambassador were combined.
Kenneth L. Anthony, you are correct, I have been in N-scale since 1969 and do have several Kadee cars with Rapido couplers.
