Interesting. Thanks for posting. Appears to be DCC capable? Does it say anywhere what the suggested price will be?
Looks like they are using the “sound” output from the tablet. Probably using one channel for sound to the controller and the other channel for a DCC control signal. In my opinion they missed an easy way to go with a wireless Bluetooth connection from the tablet to the controller. Bob
24800 Yen on the Rokuhan site: http://www.rokuhan.com/english/news...-introduction-for-the-e-train-controller.html
At 1:08 of their video (LINK) they mention that it can control trains with Bluetooth instead of the audio output jack.
Thanks, I missed that. Kind of unusual to demonstrate a tethered-throttle when you have a wireless-throttle. Bob
Garth, Any ideas how would you connect the feeder cable to use with Marklin track? Would it work with non-Rokuhan trains? John
Around $225 at current exchange rate. Will be interesting to see more information as it gets into people's hands.
This is the Rokuhan's upcoming controller. It is both DCC and Analog. It included the ability to switch between DCC and Analog by swiping your finger. The interface is designed for mobile devices. We tested it last year during the NTS and it was excellent. The module includes sound. I believe it will handle any DCC decoder, but I would need to confirm. I am expecting a US version to be here soon for testing. The plan is to release by the end of the year. I am very excited about this controller and can't wait to start offering it to our customers and dealers. Oh and one more thing, it is multi-scale! Rob
Sound might be nice for small layouts. Connecting a sub woofer would sound better than an on board small speaker.
John, just cut the connector off the track end. Wire EITHER leads to the märklin track, as you would your DC power. There is no polarity in DCC (it is a constantly changing polarity, roughly 8000-10000 times a second, to send the digital data). The decoder in the loco coverts this to DC for the motor, LED's and microcontroller.
Outstanding! Thanks Garth! As soon as the US version is released I getting one. This will be great for my small layout. No separate power pack required, correct? John
Yes, you need to power the layout with something. It will come with likely 12v 2 Amp supply (wall-wart style). You will still need the DC Switch controllers for accessories.
Another question...can you connect multiple "throttles"? (tablets/phones) Or is this only for a single control point?
Since there is a Bluetooth connection, I suspect possible 2, max (1 BT and 1 direct). I very much doubt that it will attach 2 BT devices. This is not a system controller. More these small layouts with 1 or 2 locos running. At the price, you by numerous DCC systems for that, especially NCE's PowerCab. With a Computer and $100 LocoBuffer from RR-Cirkits, you can run as many trains with as many phones / tablets as you want.
Apparently the “*Operate your car by wireless connection via third-party Bluetooth audio receivers (sold separately)” uses the same direct audio connection as the tablet in the demo video. Bob
Interesting. This would mean that they are using audio frequency to represent the speed and possibly a sub set of frequencies for commands.
You've got to believe that their next upgrade of this will be switch control. A small decoder to fit into existing track switches.
use a Rokuhan feeder cable and cut off the track plug and split the cable into two separate wires and connect those to any track HO N Nn3 or Z
