Does anybody know where I can buy a tiny troul for spreading putty for underneath the N gauge foam roadbed. Thanks
Or go to Walmart or Bed, Bath & Beyond and go to the kitchen gadgets section. They have some silicone spatulas, some are small. With silicone, nothing sticks to it. Or go to an art store as they have a lot of small spatulas used for sculpting clay. Micro Mark above works too but you have to pay shipping.
For even smaller tools, look for dental spatulas. www.widgetsupply.com has a good selection of cheap ones - search for the term spatula.
Try a women's beauty shop as well. Usually similar tools are used for manicures/pedicures - usually near tweezers etc. I use rubber-tipped cuticle pushers for applying decals. And they're cheap!
try harbor freight- they have an assortment of dental tools there. there are some that have 'paddles' on the end. they can be bent and formed into great little trowels that might be just what you are looking for. good luck!
Man....you guys shore know about tools that can be used in this hobby...The first thing that I thought about was cutting and shaping a piece of copper tubing to fit the situation.....but then I'm pretty frugal....."don't spend money on what you can make real cheaply"! I guess it comes from being real poor in my formative years...many many moons ago. Jim
I learned some time ago that tools from a specific hobby market can be much more expensive than from general stores - some bits for my boat were a quarter of the price from the local handyman store than from the harborside ship chandler! On tiny tools - I asked my dentist, and he had a whole drawer of unused tools from salespeople's demo sets. They are great; I got them for the price of a smile! Why not just use an old credit card (or library card, or motel key card, etc)? Cheap, saves throwing out another piece of plastic, and you can cut the edges to the shapes you want.
I just use the flat chisel blades in an Exacto knife set and then there are my plastic pallet knives in my art stuff.
