Folks I'm back to playing with my trains. I didn't find an answer, when I bought the loco. Now, months/yr plus later/I'm using the latest JMRI release and still... Folks, All I can find, on the website is " including a new advanced Bachmann/Lenz DCC decoder with back EMF," JMRI calls it a "manufacturer 101 version 81 no such decoder defined", So I can choose a Bmann 1, 2 or 4 function decoder. I'm guessing 2 function. Is there a better Lenz decoder to choose, for programming purposes? I get this ambiguity on all Bmann decoders (Except the Berk Tsunami) If I get this figured out, I might even want to figure out how to contribute to JMRI and define the decoders there... But today, I'm just stuck on.... What is it? Thanks Marty
If I were you I'd rip out the stock decoder and replace it with a Digitrax decoder . The stock decoder is limited in what you can program IE can't set mid or max speed . And a new decoder will make it run much better . Also , there is a lot of room in the tender for a good sound decoder and speaker, suggest Tsunami 2 decoder with a sugercube speaker and enclosure . Mike
Actually! You can program the speed. I wrote the xml today, editing the Lens Silver Mini decoder xml. It has some flaws, so I want toe JMRI folks to look at it, before I share it. If you can edit xml files, yourself, you will probably do better than I did. That said, the loco creeps along now! I don't have the money, or the time, or the tolerance for competing steam sounds, to add sound. Bmann apparently put a pretty good decoder, in this one. http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/NEM-1LenzDecoderCVTable.pdf
Bachmann makes some great small steamers; the re-release of the 2-8-0, and the 4-6-0. Staying cool and having fun with it......... Shades
Smaller!!!! 0-4-0, 0-6-0, 4-4-0. All with Fleishman like pickup and EM1 Lenz made style DCC and hidden motors Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Marty: I'm at the other end of the spectrum....... large steam...... Staying cool and having fun with it...... Shades
