Description: FOR SALE: Kato F-3 diesels. A & B unit, both powered. Painted & lettered for ATSF Engines run smooth. NO boxes. Be aware that these unit are NOT made to have a DCC decoder installed. Buyer would have to rework frame to place a decoder on board. There are 3 defects with the engines: 1) There are NO horns on the roof of the A-unit 2) Two of the corner ladders are broken off the B-unit. You can see where one of the missing ladders should be on the B-unit. Look at the far right end of the B-unit, in the image, and you will see where the ladder is missing. The other missing ladder is on the other side of the B-unit at the far left end. None of the defects will keep the engines from running smooth. Description: Two 5-car sets of Athearn 40'3" 3-bay hoppers in their original packaging -- 10 cars total, for just over $5 each (the price includes domestic U.S. shipping). These sold originally for $63.98 in 2006, when they were first released. They're long out of production and difficult to find. Each car has a removable plastic coal load. Here's what you get for your $60: * Athearn 11087 (road numbers 18502, 18599, 18623, 18757, 18968) * Athearn 11088 (road numbers 18511, 18675, 18702, 18886, 18934) * USPS Priority Mail domestic shipping (2-3 day) Just imagine these trailing behind an Athearn D&RGW Challenger or a set of Rio Grande F units, and you'll have the picture. These cars remained in use well into the 1960s, when they were replaced by 100-ton four-bay hoppers. Note that these cars were produced in the pre-McHenry days, so they're equipped with Accumate trucks and couplers. I recommend that you upgrade these to Micro-Trains trucks and couplers, or you could install McHenry couplers on the Accumates. Please note, too, that these cars aren't fully prototypical -- but they're close enough to serve as stand-ins. The overall dimensions (just over 40') and the number of vertical ribs (10) are prototypical for the Grande's 18500-18999 hoppers, built by PSC in 1952, but these are riveted cars while the Grande's were welded.
