Description: Removed the flywheel. At the extreme angle on a curve the drive shaft would have followed the red line, now it will follow the yellow line.

Marklin re-motor

Description: Slowly ground away the motor armature of the stock motor leaving the 1mm shaft. The white is a piece of styrene with a copper tube bushing reamed out to 1mm ID for support. The flywheel is from a N scale Tomytec power chassis with a NWSL universal in its end.

Description: Etched pieces glued together. Journal boxes are cut from MT trucks. In real life the ashpan was attached to the truck which is why it's such a odd design.

Description: Z scale tender for a yet to come Z scale Berkshire. Sides and top were etched from .005" brass and then glued to a thick brass inner core that was soldered together. Trucks are from a West Model 4-6-4 kit in Germany.

Aerial photo trackplan

Description: This is an old aerial photo of the real yard. The dimensions of the real city block were taken from insurance validation maps. Then the aerial photo was re-sized to those dimension in N scale. Once that was done the photo was imported to autoCAD and I simply traced over it and went from there. Every turnout is different.

Description: Everything is soldered up and ready to peel away from the paper printout for cleaning. That's 16 turnouts, one of them a 3-way all built as one big piece. The rest of the yard stub tracks will be ME code 55 flex.

Description: ME code 55 rail with PC ties. Sprayed glue on the backs of the ties and stuck them to a printed CAD drawing. The CAD drawing was traced and scaled from a aerial photo of the real terminal.
