This photo was taken during World War I at the Big Four Depot, 14th and Dillon Streets. This group of women were Red Cross workers who would meet the 'Troop Trains" and distribute baked goods and apples.
Always interesting to see how women's fashions have changed over the past hundred years. Also that apples dominate the baskets in Johnny Appleseed country.
Nice. This continued during WWII as well. Not only fashions have changed but so have attitudes. Women's lib?
