Thanks for the memories. The Great Northern shot triggers a flash back to the summer of 1961 when my family traveled from Seattle to Minneapolis aboard the Western Star. It looked just like that.

I just found my old timetable and looked up the train times through Fargo back in the early 60s when I rode. The Builder came through in the middle of the night both directions while the Western Star came through in late morning and early afternoon.

So it's quite possible then that the train pictured is the Western Star. Cool!

Big Sky Blue does not seem to hold up very well.

Certainly doesn't seem that way. Not a particularly resistant shade of blue they chose to go with.

Seems like they just paint over the old paint too.. I like the Sky Blue image but man, like you guys say it didn't wear well at all.
But man do I enjoy seeing these images!

That 5632 shot looks to be in Cheyenne, on the high fill. This might be from the side along what is now Westland Rd. My photo is from a bit further south on the fill.

The only thing that appears to be missing are the telegraph/telephone poles but it certainly looks like the same fill. I'll mark that down as being Cheyenne though.

The RGZ photo isn't Front Range, it looks west slope, perhaps around Bond. Experts?
