Ok, I don't believe I've posted this one yet. View of the railroad station in Wilkinson, Indiana. Six milk cans are arranged on the ground next to the station building. Two men stand on the platform. Postmark: 1905
That was pretty typical of the Mohawk Valley "milk runs" to New Yawk City. All the local dairy farmers brought milk in cans for shipment to NYC. I often wondered how they ended up getting the cans back to original owners. Thanks, Roger.
This building is still alive and kicking . Shirley ,IN. where I was born and raised is 2 miles east of Wilkinson, I remember the depot setting at the location in the photo . It is now located on the Grant City road about 3 miles northwest of Knightstown , IN. You are looking west in the photo . The railroad is the B4 P&E division . The depot has been made into a home and has a two car garage on the end we are looking at . The gentleman that owns it found papers within and let me make copies . Most were from shippers sending and receiving products that they were involved with . LEW
LEW, thanks for the update on the current status of the building. So many have been torn down or otherwise dispatched.
