After a week or so of procrastinating, I finally bit the bullet and bought this little addition to the layout: All I can hope for is it is a good as the reviews claim and isn't another Bachmann nightmare.
I’ve been itching to build a micro layout in Nn3 and when I saw this tiny Shay kit from Showcase Miniatures I knew I had to have it. This sucker is tiny but the kit seems extremely well engineered and should result in a fine little locomotive. Of course I’ll kitbash just a little. I love rickety old logging tram lines and ancient Arizona mining tracks clinging to rocky ledges so I’m going to divert energy from my HO layout and tackle a micro layout with logging scenery on one side and Arizona mining on the other. Strictly freelanced so as to give me a break from prototype modeling for a while. By the way, this kit requires the power truck to be purchased separately.
I know nothing about Nn3, where is it in the scale ladder O, HO, N, etc... and where do you get the track? And are all the locomotives and cars built from kits? Like I said I know nothing about this scale. But I found this video of an Nn3, I think, going over a cool bridge Thanks!
It’s N scale narrow gauge and runs on Z scale track. I don’t have track or anything. I just saw this model and had to have it. I’ll learn the rest as I go.
Not exactly a purchase because it was free. Just got this Atlas GP38-2 in the mail from Trovestar for entering 200 items in the N Scale database. Anyone can do it and they have some great stuff in their rewards program. Link to rewards page - http://www.trovestar.com/collection_pages/4/rewards_summary.php
Thanks for the Nn3 info everyone, so much to learn here! And congrats on the locomotive for entering items into the Trovestar database. I am gonna have to look into that!
I Had noticed these kits awhile back but been so busy with scenery didn't have the time...well now is the time. I only bought the two models and some Micro Trains wheelsets w/couplers but no decal sets. Will probably pick up a basic SP decal set for simple lettering and weather them a bit heavy so there is minimal exposure to the lettering and such. Real simple kits with only about 7 parts per. (Already have some sugar beet molds)
The holidays are around the corner and I want to be ready! Plus a portion gets donated to charity by Kato. My first major purchase in many many years as when my son left the hobby so did I. I waited year after year for him to come back and unfortunately to no avail. Sigh! So I ain't waitin' for anyone now! That store in MD always has the greatest prices and no exception to these but at the time when I ordered they had a 10% off coupon for train sets. And the two add on cars count as a "train set" also. $17+off their already good prices!
I went to the Kate Shelley swap meet today and was a little sad there was hardly any n-scale there. 3 tables out of 60 to 70. Hmmm But I did score a couple of books. And a couple photos of the Baltic. From beginning to end... Not bad for fifty bucks. I do find the photos really interesting. You can see all the wear and tear over the years. The new was in 1938. The scrap was in 1951. At least I think it was in a scrapyard because the loco is stripped. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Got this Faller kit in the mail today from Amazon. I was a bit concerned about ordering any model products from US Amazon because they don't pack things very well but they were the only source that did not charge an outrageous amount for shipping, in fact it was free shipping. I was pleasantly surprised that Faller is now packing their kits in much sturdier boxes than they used to and my kit was fine in spite of being rattled around inside the Amazon box with the other items in the order. These silos will be included in an industry I am planning for my layout. Faller222207 by nscalestation posted Nov 4, 2017 at 11:11 PM
