Nothing special in the present releases for me... well perhaps a couple of Microtrains items. Waiting mainly for Xmas time releases if any will be available due to factory and tariff issues. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
I purchased 3 Kato Kit Special UP passenger cars, (5-DB Sleeper,10-6 Sleeper and a 11DB Sleeper.) The were snap on assembly and ran well. Cheers,
Athearn tank train units, 4 sets of 3, hey so I am missing an arm and a leg now but at least I got a nice tank train to simulate the LA to San Ardo run
So I found a Digitrax DCS51 on Ebay as for parts or not working. I got it for $60. I was excited it has been a few months since I have had a repair project (a set of Kenwood component stereos were my last adventure). The listing said internally shorted will not power up. It arrives and I plug it in and it powers up just fine. I install it in my layout and it works. OK so maybe it's the power supply (PS314) that came with it. I plug that power supply into my cord and to the new Zephyr and all is good... WOW got a perfectly working DCS51 for 1/3 of the price new... I plug it in again to program a loco for my layout and nothing... woo woo woo it was just working a day ago. I notice the power supply doesn't have the little green light on. I plug the Zephyr into the layout again and it powers up perfectly again... Good. It turned out to be the cord that plugs into the wall and power supply that was bad. The ONLY part I didn't test prior to this. I found one laying around my house and BAM all fixed.

So I went to a train show in Lynden today. For those who don’t know Lynden is the last stop before Canada in northern WA. I made a couple deals and won a raffle so all was good. The raffle ended me up with a Christmas village house that is too small for HO but too big for N scale stuff. But the real jewels were a pair of Kato NS Heritage locomotives. One Eire Lackawanna with sound, and a Savanna and Atlanta that’s just DC (for now).
Lately I have been getting interested in MoW vehicles and have kit bashed a couple of trucks for my layout. A couple days ago I ordered one of the MoW trucks from Showcase Miniatures and it arrived today. I was surprised by how many parts there are in the kit but realize that some are optional like the booms and stabilizing jacks. I am also impressed at how clean the parts with very little flash. I've done a few GHQ metal vehicle kits but this will be my first Showcase vehicle kit.
HI nsscalestation you will like the kit. I have over 40 of there kits they are great. take a flat clear plastic from pakage and cut it to size to make the windshield. that is what I do and it looks great. ED
After having a really crappy week at work, I decided to get myself a couple of presents. When Amtrak was born, I remember seeing SDP40Fs pulling Amtrak trains in the SF Bay Area. So, I found a couple of Kato SDP40Fs and a Kato Southwest Limited for them to pull!
I FINALLY got my 2017 Operation North Pole Set from Tony. I wasted no time installing a decoder and getting it on the rails. The 2017 train is a mint green color and looks really good. Sorry my little layout won’t allow for a full shot of the whole train.
Massey, I like your statement about our veterans!!! They are all heroes in my opinion, they give so much and don't ask for anything in return. Joe
3 Atlas and 2 Bachmann 4 bay covered hoppers. 1 Bachmann and 1 Atlas came with factory defects a wheel is actually bent on the axle on an Atlas and a coupler is bent, 1 of the Bachmann couplers is not functioning with a bad spring. Bummer on the quality control in China with the factory change situation. Minor issues and the shop I use is working with me on it. The hopper shells look nice. The grain shipments were getting backlogged, the tiny people of the layout are very relieved to have the shipping situation worked out. SMVR will switch out couplers and wheels from some other rolling stock until replacements arrive, to make sure local industries are back on track.
