ok, I know this is Slovenia as it's about 4 blocks from my grandmas house. What engine is this? I think maybe one of the guys I know Alan may have ahad a modelof it in the past. His slovenian railways layout was possibly my favorite layout ever on here. Pretty cool video:
It may have an EMD sound, but it sure has the look of a GE export unit--right down to the staggered axle spacing. I don't think it's a U20C, but I'm not sure which one it is.
It has the typical EMD left-side blower bulge, the cab looks like a cut-down EMD cab (even with the pug nose), but those trucks are a bit odd. Mind you, with export units, sometimes the need dictates the design. And it does sound like an EMD engine in there.
It is an EMD G26. They look to be listed as class 664 since all the road numbers start with that. The "see also" section on the bottom of the Wikipedia page mentions the GP38-2, and the page mentions lower axle loading, so that is probably why it has 3 axle trucks. There is also one with a high short hood as class 644. I don't know if they are the same base EMD model. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_G26
So it's basically an export SD38 on a diet (down to 100 tons or so...). I had a cool thought - had CN maintained the 3'6"-gauge Newfoundland lines, that would have been a likely replacement for the 567-powered G8/NF110/NF210s (but not quite as good-looking) Great info, guys!
I've been finding a lot of odd locos on Italian videos. I won;t bore you with the others. This slovenian one really needs a model.
Problem solved. This shapeways page has a few different variants in N,TT, and HO.https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace/miniatures/trains/?tag=g26 The HCW is the same as the SZ one, based on a few seconds of looking at them.
