For years, SP, now UP had one plow with no Funit power unit. This refugee from Denver aims to fix that. It and the plow were sent to a company in South Sac for rebuild. I don't know the history of the DRGW unit, but it is in sad shape.

Another shot from my recent trip across north Texas to New Mexico. Somewhere along US 278 near Wichita Falls.

    Happy Friday the 13th!!
I like the eerie, creepy shadows this CP doublestack train leaves as it crossed the Souris River in central Minot. Traffic on 2nd Ave casts hues of red upon the river behind the trestle.

The D&RGW unit is #5763, an F9B. It was one of the units behind 5771 that hauled the Rio Grande Zephyr before the route was taken over by Amtrak.

This is a better view some 10 or more years ago:

Thanks for this. rumor out here was that UP was holding it to be part of an alternate power set for the business train, but they just never actually did that.

Is this one of the SD90AUs? or SD70Au or whatever they're calling them. The former UP SD9043s? The cab is not a 9043 cab, but the long hood and frame sure look like it. Was cab replacement part of the upgrade?

It's called a SD70ACU now. It was rebuilt last year. It was a UP8261.
