Some Kato PAs that I modified to represent some that ran on the Sunset Limited between New Orleans and El Paso. They were ordered from Alco without dynamic brakes and added to the T&NO roster with three digit numbers.
Russell, I thought the Cotton Belt also had one or two PA's in the Daylight Scheme! Intermountain 40' PS1 Kit, with 8' Door, added A-line Sill steps in place of the cast plastic ones, painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with Champ Decals that were in the E-bay purchase of the kit. Car was orginally built in 1951 and this is a 1960 repaint into black from the original boxcar red. [ Proto 2000 50' SD Boxcar kit, substituted Yarmouth Models sill steps for the cast plastic ones. Car painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Speedwitch Media Decals. Car was lot 693-B built by the Despatch Shops of the NYC in 1941, this is a 1952 repaint. Needed a few more cars for my transition era consists, which is why I built these cars, will be doing some more in the near future. Thanks for looking, Rick Jesionowski
All right Russ, I'll see your 2 PA's and raise you one PB.... LOL - These are Broadway limited with a few added details. (I haven't changed the number boards to reflect the train number as of yet -- should be 98 or 99, for the Daylight) Thanks, Wolf
I lettered one of mine #1 and the other #2 for the Sunset, putting the appropriate locomotive in the lead depending on which direction the train is going.
Hey Russ, That's a grand idea. That was my hang up for not doing it. Hadn't decided which train to number the locomotive/s for. This solves it. Thanks, Wolf
And, the Cotton Belt's units had only a single headlight. They also had the only GP7 on the system (No dynamic brakes) -- she was delivered in daylight colors. Wolf
Don't you know it, I modeled 5 railroads where only 5 units (DTI 200 to 204) had dynamic brakes. The DT&I, D&TSL, AA, NKP and Wabash. When I first started it was cut, fill and paste to remove all those things, much easier now. Rick Jesionowski
