Sorry I was unable to get this going earlier. I have been traveling and just got home to my computer. A little whimsical scene here with evil Snidely Whiplash waiting for the demise of some poor helpless maiden. Where is Dudley Do-Right to save her?
Got some work done and some more in progress work this week. Still working on the Intermountain Canadian Grain Covered Hopper, now on to the roof walk supports. Also started on the next ACY 50' PS1 starting with the Intermountain Kit. Eastern Car Works ACF 1958 CF Covered Hopper Kit, modified to more closely resemble a Bethlehem Steel version with the addition of sheet metal panels on the end of the car and on the bulkhead over the trucks. Also aligned the roof hatches to open longitudinally on the car. Car was painted with Scalecoat II UP Hopper Gray and lettered with Tichy Decals, error on decal sheet was an ACF Builders Plate, I had a Bethlhem Steel one in my stash to replace it. Note the car was lettered CRP instead of CNJ, they did this in 1946 to avoid New Jersey taxes, after a lengthy court battle, the CNJ lost and CRP went away. Car was used for hauling cement. E&C Greenvllle 52'6" Gondola kit, Painted with Floquil Reading Green and lettered with Oddballs Decals. The BKTY reporting marks represented a car leased or financed by Bankers Leasing Company (A SP Subsididary). So if anything happened to the MKT Bankers Leasing could find their cars and reposses them. Car was in general service. Now, lets see the good stuff! Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
Here's a recent photo of my N Scale layout when I actually had two trains running, at the same time. This was taken where both lines cross the Humboldt river near Golconda, Nevada. Hope everyone has a great national fried chicken day, July 6th. We are celebrating the holiday by... frying some chicken.
I remember a presidential campaign, either 1968 or 1972, where someone made up whimsical posters of Dudley for President, "A Great American". Of course he was Canadian, so..... But they were great fun and I had one on the wall for many long years.
I really like seeing the CRP car. Such history has been lost to most of us and is virtually never on any layout. This model is very unique!
I agree great stuff everyone. I always enjoy seeing your humor and talents. For my contribution this week, and old Blue Box Athearn 85 ft flat car. This one has the A-Line weights added and the operating end of car cushioning. Also removed the handbrake details and then added a DW hand brake and rigging from brass wire. I first painted the under frame flat black, then top of the car light grey, masked that off where I wanted, and then the car boxcar red, the appliances to hold the out of service car, moveable bolster mounts, and trucks were painted Chinese red. The B end of the flat has a rigid bolster mount while the bolster mount towards the A end was able to slide for and aft to accommodate different lengths of out of service cars to be carried. The images are a work in progress, and progress seems to be slow. The tank car was sacrificed for the load with a lot of cutting gouging and bending to simulate a side swipe, Some rust and yellow dry brushing were done. Still need to unload the flat do some weathering to the flat car and tank, then reload the tank, and tie it down. Here is the progress so far. Thanks for looking!
WHERE"S THE BEEF ??? A couple of cow hands get ready to load cattle onto the stock cars at McNab Livestock. The cattle pens are scratch built to fir the space available.
The hay bales are available in packages, but I don't remember who makes them. The package also came with the larger round bales which were a bit too modern for he era I'm modeling. Sent them off to another modeler. Here are some more at the farm. They do add some needed detail.
