Looking for a good photo of a Wabash E8 (#s 1000, 1003-1015) to post in "The Crummy". It seems some administrators/moderators over there don't know what a beautiful E unit really looks like! Thanks, ------------------ "Follow the Flag" [This message has been edited by wabash_one (edited 12 April 2000).]
Well, it's not an E, it's an F. Montecello Railway Museum in Montecello, IL. Has a beutiful F-7 in Wabash Passenger colors. I just wish they had some matching varnish to go with it. I have a photo, but no scanner, sorry. ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX! Brent Tidaback
Thanks Max, I've got shots of 1189, but as you said it's not an E8. If I can't come up with a REALLY good E8 shot, maybe I'll use one of these, and hope nobody notices! ------------------ "Follow the Flag"
She's a classy Dame anyway! Put her on! She's my favorite down there in Monty, but a close second is the A-B set of Canadian National FA's in Olive, Black and Gold! SWEEEEEEET! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX! Brent Tidaback
Well WabashOne, here is one of your E-8s , but not like you hoped. Let's just say Pevlar blue can make any unit look good!! Enjoy, Justin May (N&WHigHHood) http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/nw/nw3806.jpg
Thanks Justin........but you're right.....It's not quite what I had in mind. Remember, I'm trying to IMPRESS these guys with the beauty of "the beast", not reinforce their misguided beliefs! W-1 p.s. do I know you from a Yahoo! club? ------------------ "Follow the Flag"
Wabash One , I was a memeber of the Wabash list for quite a while , but lack of activity and college required me to unsubscribe, I am a memeber of the Frisco , SMRF, and PM lists, so you may have seen me there? If not, its nice to meet you and although I am a fan of the Wabash , I prefer the Pevlar blue and Hamburger heralds to most any scheme out there. Have a good one , Justin May
Justin, ya, now I remember you from the Frisco Club! Good to chat with you again. I appreciate the offer for the E8 (N&W), as that was the closest of relationships. I alway thought that the new paint livery & color the WABASH introduced with the U25Bs and GP35s was very, very close to Pevler Blue, almost as if it were planned that way in anticipation of the merger approval. If you want to check out the photo that Max suggested, goto Yahoo! Clubs, "Wabash RR Club", and let me know what you think. It's an F7, but Max seems to think it neat-o enough to compete against the E units in The Crummy. I'm still siding toward an actual E8 photo, but what I've got are either distance shots, or the units have too much road grime on them to impress anybody. Let me know what you think. W-1 p.s. the E8 pictures there already are really nice, so ours has to be better! ------------------ "Follow the Flag" [This message has been edited by wabash_one (edited 13 April 2000).]
W-1, I looked over the site today and was impressed, and to answer the question of the F7 instead of the E8 - I have a pic of 1015 for you. Email me at jrmay49@juno.com and I will send it to you. Till next time and have a good one, Justin May
Just so people don't feel left out because The Crummy is a private forum, the Frisco E-8 is also posted in the Frisco Forum. Justin: If you have pics to share, they can be posted here. If you do not have web space to put them to be displayed here - I can upload them for you. Charlie ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO!
Thanks! Now you must share it with everyone here! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Style! Brent Tidaback
O.K. Max! (Photo used by permission of "The Lynx") Now this is a beauty !!! ------------------ "Follow the Flag"
You know, I snaped a photo of this loco at the very same spot. Just outside of the Downtown Montecello Train Depot! I LOVE this F-7! I'm going to take a cab ride in it next time I get over there! I hope it will be at Galesburg for Railroad Days, it was there last year, but the cab was closed up by the time I got there to see it. Oh well, I'll see it someday...Oh yeah, thanks again for the post! This is REAL CLASS! ------------------ RAILROADING-TO-THE-MAX, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Style! Brent Tidaback
