Had someone who wanted me to paint up some AWVR locos for him. Ended up doing all of the decal work and I think they turned out pretty good. SD40-2 next.
+1 Agreed! The vast majority of the public would not sit through 2 hours of actual railroad operations - even if it involved an emergency. Aside from the crowd here, it would simply be too boring for most viewers. I think Tony Scott and cast took an event and made it compelling for the average viewer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Locos look great! I enjoyed the movie for the most part, but it certainly had it's flaws. Like how did the lead (braking) locos take the diverging route at that switch, ultimately flipping over, while the trailing units did not. Also, I doubt that all the first responders would collect and wait at trackside for an impending derailment at their location! Possibly more entertaining than the movie itself is the making of it, where several loco props were used for various shots including the cab prop with the rotating camera.
Really nice work!! The movie had it's up and downs. I watch it from time to time. Everyone can pick out points that are bad ,,but hey it is Hollyweird. I look forward to seeing the Blue -2 Wyatt
Very nice and you beat me to it. I bought the decals from a source on eBay (expensive....), but haven't had a chance to work on the engines yet. I plan on doing all three as well. What paint colors did you end up using? Cheers, Brian
Brian - be really careful about the ones from ebay (Circus......) - I was gonna use them but there is more wrong with them than right. I even pointed it out and the guy and he didn't want to fix them. The yellow is way too pale also. As for colors I utilized ATSF Red and Insignia Yellow.
Brian - look at the pics of the AC4400 locos and then look at the decals - from not slanting the long hood logo, nose logo has continuous oval, no plow stripes, and I could go on. I would honestly ask for my money back if I had those decals. Especially for the cost. Mine aren't perfect but most of them are right.
But the 767 had low number boards! In all honesty, they look great, nice work on the paint and decals.
In the movie both 777 and 767 had high number boards. http://cinetrains.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/unstop14.jpg http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/9/9/3/2993.1258253053.jpg
You are correct. The high boards were added for the movie. In your second shot you can see the low number boards are on both engines. I'm sure that made them easier to read on some of the camera angles. It is just like how they added the front non-working front brake wheel to the SD40-2.
Oh well, will figure out something to make them right. Not worth the hassle to fight with the dude, so will drive on. I can print some decals at home, but nothing overly complicated which is why I decided to give his a try. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Brian
