my concept is to put lights in my caboose with an accessory decoder and then somehow consist of you will that with the locomotive decoder so that if I turn lights on or off on loco the caboose follows. Forward and reverse would be added bonuses. Is there an easy way to do it?

Hi Keith, and welcome! Yes, this is very simple and works basically as described - you program the function-only (lights) decoder to behave as you want, and then consist it with the loco. You can even do this as a "simple consist", where the decoder has the same address. In setting the consist (non simple), the key element is ensuring that the functions assigned respond to the consist number.

A moment on nomenclature: An "accessory decoder" usually refers to stationary decoders to control switches, etc. These will not respond to loco addresses. Function-only decoders are still "mobile decoders", but just do not have motor control functions on the board

Thanks so much! So it is simple! Ya sorry on accessory vs function only. Knew it sounded off but could not think of function only when typing earlier for the life of me.
