    Hi all,

I am looking into some detail parts for a few F unit projects. In particular pilot coupler cut levers and 5-chime airhorns. Not having seen these parts in person i would appreciate your opinion on these (casting, thickness etc...)

For the levers i am looking into Details West white metal ones and Cal-Scale's plastic ones. Since i have not seen either in person, i would very much appreciate your opinion/suggestions on these parts. I notice from pictures that DW one looks 2-part whereas the Cal-Scale has the lever as one piece.

Similarly, i am looking into a basis for a 5-chime Leslie airhorn that ATSF used on passenger F7 units (S5TR). I am thinking of using as a base (and flip the individual airhorns as needed) either a Cal-Scale RS5R24 (part #655) or a Cal-Scale S-5TRPO (part #565). Do you have any suggestions / opinions on these parts? Any recommendations for alternatives? (Athearn 5-chime or Custom Finishing RS-5T for example...).

Many thanks in advance for your replies / suggestions.

    Hi Yannis,

i've not had experience with the DW or Calscale levers but Athearn do a set to suit there Genesis line, they are plastic and one piece.

If you are looking at modifying a brass horn, why not start with a Details Assosicates Delrin type? they come in the individual parts so you can make it up to suit your needs...

sorry i don't have any part numbers.

    Good luck

fordy744 many thanks for your reply!

I did find a kit by "custom finishing" brand which is ideal in the sense that it has all the parts to make any 5-chime configuration. The detail associates you mentioned is for 4 horns (typhon) and not 5 if i am not mistaken right?

I will look into the Genesis part that you suggested!

    Thanks again!
