I know a few of you folks have been building SP&S steam. So have I. After months of going around and around with different art and sources, I finally got them done by Microscale. The sheet is designed to be used by BOTH N and HO scale modelers. There are heralds and numbering on the sheet for both scales in multiple sizes. Note the sheet also includes the tiny "SP&S" that goes on the domes, and the VERY tiny classification lettering that goes under the cab number (I included an assortment of them for whatever SP&S steam classes I could find). They are $8 for the 1st sheet, $7 for any additional sheets, shipping is free. Contact me via private message or email if you want some. Here's the actual sheet you would get: Here's a photo of the actual physical sheet (it's very hard to photograph those light blue sheets with white lettering) Here is a close-up of the actual decals applied on a piece of styrene painted flat black:
I can't promise anything, but those are on my radar screen, because I have some coaches I want to kitbash (heavyweights) and I will need them as well. I need to see how this goes first, and see if I sell enough of these to get my money back ;-) I didn't do this to make money, but by the same token, getting a special run done by Microscale ain't exactly cheap, so... one step at a time. And thanks!
I welcome the thought of being able to get some SP&S steam decals since some that I have now are twenty plus years old and never did have the engine class data. I do hope though that at some point when I am still on this side of the green and can still see my models that some decent N scale passenger car lettering can become a reality.
John, I saw your note. Don't worry, I'll have steam decal sheets for you when you are ready. There is chatter about passenger decals over in the SP&S Yahoo group. Somebody has already contacted Microscale about it, and Microscale is asking for artwork. If you have a way to generate accurate artwork in a vector drawing program (i.e. CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator), you can get them to do this without too much hassle. If you only have bitmaps, or JPGs, or other such "picture" forms of the artwork, you have to redraw it all, or get them to do it - they will, but it costs money. The bottom line is, if somebody had good art for the passenger lettering, we could get Microscale to do this and they are easy to work with.
I rarely read these forums anymore and I missed this request (from nearly a year ago now!) Yes, the SP&S decals are still available. Send me a PM.
