I decided it would be cool to chronicle this project.

    Starting point:
    Hallmark DS-4-4-1000

    Next - disassembly:

Next -- adding some missing details - (Not much is needed - windshield wipers and change the exhaust stack)

    Hope Y'all like it,
    Wolf

I was about to comment on that fat turbocharger stack. I know the S-12 had it, and I know early DS4-4-1000s had normally aspirated straight eights and four skinny stacks. Didn't they switch to turbocharged sixes before S-12 production began?

I have an old Atheran HO S-12 that I converted to an early DS4-4-1000 with the Santa Fe 'candelabra' raised stacks. It may not have the SP's dozens of weird headlights, but it has character.

Correct - Cotton Belt's S-10's had the normally aspirated 8 cylinder engines (With 4 stacks). SP's S-10's were purchased with the new 6 cylinder turbocharged engine. So. yeah, SP's S-10's had a single stack. At the moment I have decided to leave the stack as is. It is not correct, but, I have yet to come up with a correct unit. I may have to figure out how to make one.

Oh - both versions (SSW's and SP's) were rated at 1000 HP.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

Amazing job Wolf. I don't have any brass equipment. Is it easier to work with than plastic?

    Thank you!!

    Is it easier -- ?
For adding details --- nope. For removing some details for painting and decals --- nope. Other then those issues -- it's about the same.
