Today, when I opened Trainboard "N scale forum," I was able to make and edit a post on the thread for the MTL True Scale Couplers, but immediately afterward, was told I needed to log-in to make a post to the "More e-Bay Humor" thread. Without logging in, I went back to the coupler thread and was apparently still able to post to that again. But, when I went back to the Humor thread, I still needed to log-in, which I then did with no trouble and made a post. So, the issue is that my logged-in status does not seem to be treated consistently in different threads on the same forum.

Old stuff. Windows Vista with Explorer 9. Planning on updating this year, but not immediately.

That'll happen sometimes. There's an interruption in your internet which causes the forum to log you out, but when you hit the back button, it forgets it logged you out because you go back to when you were logged in.

Based on other observations, yesterday, I think the basic problem was with my Internet Provider. I later found that I was having other unusual difficulties with sign-ins on other websites with Explorer and Chrome, plus Android on my smart-phone. Today, no problems. Logouts due to IP connection losses seems to be a good expanation for all of it.

Cookies are IP based. if the isp changed the IP that you are logged in with, that can cause issues

Yes, true. But, usually I see that in the advertizing scripts rather than log-in scripts. Explore just gives me a choice of stopping a long-runnng script, and doing so does not seem to affect the use of the site.
I have never had that issue on this site, before or after the update mods.

Maybe someone read my post above. I got here today without signing in! First time in at least 6 months. What happened? Jim

I would suggest you give your computer a cookie, but it obviously already has one.
