Some folks might believe this scheme is quite plain or simple. In that regard, it was actually rather elegant.

Awesome passenger car, looks like you'll have to take a trip to the fridge soon.

I picked up a Roundhouse 3 in 1 snow plow 'kit'

Looks like a great winter project. Fun opportunity to be creative and have fun. I'm hoping to learn enough on this little guy to tackle a real scratch build next. It will be added to my freelance roster, so there is no wrong answer on how to put it together.

Just received my Trainworx 40' Brown Trailer's. Nice change from all the Frehauf's that we have models for!

Ditto Rick on those Trainworx HO' Brown trailers. I have a ton of 40' Fruehauf trailers, which are pretty accurate, but it will be nice to have some variety, between these brown trailers and drop frame trailers. I just received one each of the Brown: NP, MP, MILW, Burlington, B&O and Katy.

Athearn's Genesis tri-level auto racks are out now also so I've ordered N&W, SP, NP and SLSF to start with.

I never have a camera handy to take photo's of purchases. Latest are the new Tri-level auto racks from Athearn Genesis.

Also just scored one of these off of Ebay for $13 - long OOP.

My most recent purchase is a set of MDVC passenger cars for a push-pull commuter train.

These are a Lima product from around 2000 when they began to produce very good scale models for the european market. One thing about Lima coaches is that they used to be shorty one size fits all. These are long with lights in the unpowered driver car, and close coupling that swings out longer on curves.

My passion had been to gather mostly models from 1960's to 80's and run toy trains on my layout, but now I seem to be getting more high quality stuff. Expect some non prototype headaches for views of the future layout. ;)

Sorry the images are so dark. I was in a hurry to snap some shots and used my phone under a table lamp. :)

I went to the Timonium Train show north of Baltimore MD on Sunday and figured it would be a bust since most of the good finds are wiped out on Saturday. Boy was I wrong.

I scored 6 RTR Red Caboose GS Rio Grande gondolas for $12.50 each - which is a steal because they retail for $38.95 and discount price for $31 give or take.

Having taken a trip to europe this summer and seen a lot of really beautiful locos up close I am exploring purchasing samples of modern-ish equipment that one would see coming over the alps in places such as the Brenner pass.

At least one Taurus is obligatory even if it isn't in the exact paint scheme -- Just Because. :D

I managed to get one for what I think is a very low price via E-auction place. It was 144 bucks + shipping. A new one is over 200.00 these days. What shocked me is that upon opening the shell to see what it was like on the inside I found what looks like a decoder. It certainly isn't one of those jumper plugs!

I think I got a pretty good deal on this.

I got a half price offer from one of my E-Bay members so I had to pick up this one!

Athearn U-50, just had to have one, used to see these going through Toledo, from the GE Plant in Erie, PA on their way to the UP in Council Bluffs.

What a beast. Love it. Is that a stock r-t-r model, or has someone done some detailing on it?

No it is stock right out of the box, all I had to do was install the access ladders and the bell.

Such a nice loco. Almost hate to see it gummed up with weathering.

I am doing chalks on my trains these days, but not using fixative. I just add more chalk as things get wipe away. that way, I can always wash them with warm water to make them look new.

The flesh is weak! I am overcome by train desire.

My original plan to only use 60's to 80's models on my layout, thus avoiding the cost of new trains, has come to a screeching halt.

I spied this Vitrains ETR s03-03 model second-hand on that bid place. Ended up getting it for about half cost and it is in pristine condition, with the exception of a minor scratch on some paint that can be easily blended in.

What to say: Vitrains makes awesome models. The entire unit has lighting I am sure, because it has connectors between each car.

Guess I need to get going on that new layout soon.

I've been a fan of the St. Clair Northern since reading a Model railroader article in 1976, so I was very happy to find this NMRA heritage car on ebay.

Some recent purchases, bookend Athearn RTR SD 40-2s with DCC & Soind from my favorite source for locomotives. These will be stripped and repainted in SKOL black and yellow. I have the decals on the workbench. The IRL Port of Catoosa is served by SKOL with SD 40s.

I spent the day at the OKC train show and I only bought 2 cars. 31K gallon Trinity Tank Cars. I got a smokin deal from the local hobby shop that had a booth at the show. These are Scale Trains Rivet acounters. The only thing I want to do to them is darken the wheels a bit and dust them up some. Excellent models!

I also picked up some vehicles for the roads and some turnouts and terminal jointers. We have done a track re-alignment on the peninsula and are adding some width. This allows a view-block to go in.

    Thanks for looking!

I've always been attracted to the pretty crimson and green colors ("colours") of the British steamers; had a chance to score this: IMG_20171209_111501030.jpg

It's a slightly older (mid '80's) Hornby "7P Princess Royal" class. Got it at what appears to be a very fair price. It's an "ok" runner, but looks good and is fun to put on the rails, just for a change of pace... :)

    Happy Holidays, everyone!

oooohhh... Nice score strummer. Is it a princess class passenger loco? I don't rightly know, i'm just guessing. ;)

A while back there was a British magazine that came out. With every issue they would also give you a small railway present. The idea was that eventually you'd have all the structures and cars to build a small starter type layout. I managed to get 3 of the one issue that had LMS coaches in it. you might look around for some of those to go with the nice Loki.

Also, Lima made some decent coaches for them as well, but there is the whole thing of OO vs HO. I think the Lima's measure out to OO.
