I did a search first, I'm amazed there's been so little buzz about these locomotives, but maybe no one likes U-boats.

Which I kind of felt like too, to be honest. But these are magnificent models - so near perfect in every way you have to be a real rivet counter to find fault. I mean - it has real brass chain between the stanchions in the front and rear - the bearing journals actually TURN on the sideframes - all the screens are see-through, and there is stuff behind them to see - there is actual detail inside the cab - the sound is magnificent (LokSound). I just can't say enough - beyond that I've bought FIVE of them in the past month. Which is just silly.

Part of that is the price - I'm not sure what's going on, but I suspect dumping of stock, or inventory clearance or whatever - but the last one I bought yesterday I paid $83 for plus $12 shipping. That's about the price of the SOUND controller.

And finally, a little snippet of the startup and acceleration sounds:

My apologies to the admins if this posting of the eBay link violates anything - let me know.

I agree!! They are really beautiful, detailed machines. But I model in Z-scale, and we could use these for sure!!
Love to have some NP ones!!(y)

Can't you just model HO, but take pictures from like - the living room - and pretend? :sneaky:

I did note that apparently these have their analog in N scale, but Z .. not so much. Sowwy ..

And they do have NP - in fact, I bought one. Along with a CBQ and <blushes> THREE BNs. One of which is slated to be repainted into GN colors.

Even got a snazzy new backdrop!

Ok, Ok, I have to admit it's a test backdrop - just an empty 1ft X 3ft white box painted with spray paints.

Too bad none lasted into BNSF, because those roller bearings are the coolest thing ever. One of the guys in my club got one a few weeks ago; there is a ton of detail. I didn't expect Rivarossi to have that much. The only stuff I have are their smooth side passenger cars. It looks like I'm missing out!

It's certainly a deal. But I'll stop preaching.
