First off - a pic I found entertaining. Is it an over heated turbo? Maybe a new power source - looks nuclear!

On the other hand, maybe it's just some tape that came loose on reassembly ..

This is a very nice locomotive, it's the Athearn Genesis Hustle Muscle and it insists on running backwards. I can reverse "normal" direction in DCC and do other fiddling with the DCC CVs and I wind up with being able to reverse the lights and the "fwd" and "rev" indicators on my NCE controller - but the locomotive stubbornly insists on moving the wrong direction.

In the end, is it probable that the person who installed the DCC to begin with just wired the motor backwards? And is there any way I can fix it without completely disassembling it again?

    Thanks!

Yes, most probably the motor leads are reversed from the decoder. What decoder is in it? If a hard-wired decoder, simply switch the orange and gray leads.

Thanks Rick - at least that tells me it should work. I'm brand new to DCC. And from the pic above, I have to take it back apart again anyhow to find out why the light over yonder fan breaks.

I like the lighting effect :) (yeah, I would fix it, too)
