Many of you have seen the first two pictures of my "Ewing Oil " refinery on the club layout in Las Cruces. However, I enjoy showing these images, so here goes...................................

This used to me on my N-Trak modules. I have felt like something was/is missing and decided that a medium sized 100-180K bbls/day refinery would maybe coke their resid. Some do some, make asphalt products. I decided to give it a try and I failed to remember to make pictures as I started the project, so my following are where I stand as of today. I have a great deal of detailing and lights to add but should complete it in a couple of weeks. I'll post progress with completion and with the unit on the layout. The first 3 images I had posted on the "work bench" thread.

A real 4 drum unit located ? ? ? ? Do not know who to credit for the photo.

1st shot I made with only one drill derrick, not attached yet..........................

2nd shot with no changes other than LED's having been mounted on the column..................

Next 3 shots have new pieces just sitting for picture...............

A lot of work yet, I am going to use an auger system to move the very wet coke into piles at the right side of the unit. A large front end loader will load the railcars on the adjacent new siding,

Thanks for looking, always have fun,
    Carl

A real commodity often overlooked by modelers. I have seen some modelers do the old style beehive coke ovens but this is the first modern modeling.
    Great intricate work.

Thanks to all for the kind words, much appreciated.

Here are 3 images made today. I have added lights to the right side column, safety rails on top of coker, drilling derricks (temporarily placed, not level), and some new walkways. I need to add lights to the centerpiece, safety cage ladders, and the drilling set up and water hoses. A lot to do yet, but I'm getting there.

It already looks great. The two derricks versus one like you mentioned at some point makes a big difference. The railing all look good. What kind of yellow paint are you using for those?

    BNSF F,

Thanks, the yellow paint is Anita's All Purpose Acrylic Canary Yellow, craft paint. I got it at Hobby lobby or Michael's ?
    Maybe Walmart.

This is all of the work for today. I painted the derricks and have started adding lights to the coker. The derricks are not permanently attached yet as I need to add the drills and water hoses. It's coming along...............................

Here are 4 images of the units "test fitting" on the layout so I can see if it's what I want. Yes, still a lot of work to do.................................:

I smell it, it's getting closer. You can see that another new vessel, for project, is waiting to be unloaded.

Thanks for looking and as always have fun,

It's been a while since I posted an update, so here the unit is today, almost complete. I have all the LED's placed upon the units and have wired most of them to my buss system. I will have piles of coke and a front end loader in the far right area where the loaded SP car is sitting. I'll try to get this placed on layout and night/day pictures made next Wednesday........................................................

Thanks to all for the kind words above. I have completed the project and here are 2 or 3 images taken on workbench with a stand in backdrop. I will place on layout tomorrow and plug in the lights. Then I get to complete the track work, aren't I lucky.

Thanks to all for the encouraging words. I really appreciate them. This was approx. a month long project. I set it up on the layout today and started connecting my wiring. Soon I'll have pics of the total combined refinery units, night and day.
