What's this bright thing in the sky illuminating your photos? I haven't seen it in a while...

    Red and Green
The CP Holiday Train rests in Minot, ND as the entertainers play before hundreds of fans. Seemingly hundreds more jockey for parking spots as a BNSF westbound manifest labors by and splits the red and green signals. 18mm f/22 62 Sec

Other than the fuel spills, that unit is pristine. Very nice catch.

And it's great to see Blomberg trucks in modern operation.

Yes, I like it-simple and clean lines! I've seen a few other repaints recently and I think this is now the standard for BNSF repaints of older units, which is fine by me. Reminds me of the 50-60's era of diesel paint schemes!

What causes the orange-like hue along that track in foreground?

Orange spray paint. That section along with other sections of ties scattered throughout the yard were marked labeling them for replacement. Here is another batch at the bottom of the image.

Interesting, Russell. I am used to seeing just a "spot" type marking on ties to be renewed. Often on the top end or outside rail web. But that much coverage? Quite different...

Don't see these very often, and so when there were no trains in the yard blocking the view, I was able to get a few pics. PIC_0425.JPG PIC_0426.JPG PIC_0427.JPG PIC_0424.JPG And a shot of the local power for the moment. PIC_0434.JPG

Looks to me like it is a rebuilt, de-rated GP50. Still a great catch.
