A panorama shot in Rosenberg. Kind of quiet this morning. Things really got hopping this afternoon though.

Here are a couple of trains westbound out of Logan, MT. The train to the left with the auto racks is on the MRL/BNSF main line to the west coast. The MRL train to the right is a local peddler freight.

THIS is why I love Montana so much!!

Epic pic!! Is that an ex-Mopac unit on the local? I know MRL had a few old GP35's....

Amtrak #2, the Sunset Limited was very late today, leaving San Antonio 4 hours behind schedule. Here it is coming through Rosenberg at 2:00 PM. They had just been waiting for a very slow KCS freight to exit the Sunset Route and head south toward Victoria on the old Macaroni.

A veteran UP SD-70M lends a hand to NS at Columbia, SC (06/21/2018). That tank car is in a cut of cars loaded with Kaoiln clay and being non-hazardous, can ride up close to the power.

Caught this one on the way to the railroad museum on the 24th, oddly clean Santa Fe waycar 999706. Normally this and another car are tucked away in the little yard in Golden, so getting it this close to the road was pretty neat.

401 through 406, all six still on roster. None ex-Mopac.

Wow, your photo has stunning clarity and perfectly uniform light. A fine picture of a lovely machine. Is that 3' gauge?

Yes! It is a 3' loco, built in 1880. (As for the lighting, it was very cloudy that day, and it actually ended up raining while we were there.)

Now jump forward 70 years, and we have UP Coach 5442

Went 'fanning with a friend on Wednesday to check out South Carolina's Lancaster & Chester Railroad, a highly successful and strategically placed 60 Mile shortline that's been in operation for nearly 120 years. It was once owned by a textile firm, but is now owned by Gulf & Ohio. The line interchanges with both NS and CSX and has grown its business to levels I never imagined. We saw three jobs working various portions of the line.

    Eastbound at Richburg, SC:

and the general office at Lancaster which also houses a large HO model railroad of the L&C upstairs. Note the intricate "LC" detail below the weathervane and front eave.
