Hi everyone, here's the picks for the week Eagle2 with HLGX 6805 r_i_straw with GEC 6066 SP 9811 with a trio of Tunnel Motors BuddyBurton with some BNSF intermodal HemiAdda2d with a CP local Kurt Moose with Tacoma Rail 3001 co_riff with a transformer move Hardcoaler with Conrail in 1980 and Akirasho with NS 2120
Interesting assortment this week. Transformer move, tunnel motors looking like the way I remember SP, but that's what tunnels do. Hemi, where was yours taken? Kurt, Tacoma Rail has colorful locomotives.
I agree. We see far too many vandalized views, if not also covered with layers of dirt/use. Makes our railroads in the USA seem as though they are outright decrepit, pathetic and failing! (Hear me, Omaha, Fort Worth, et al!!!) Blecccchh!!!!
I agree. From my perspective, it was and still is the absolute thunder of their passing close by. Even in the distance, echoing.... The closest thing we have remaining these days, to the steam era of my youth!
Well put! Perhaps it was their outright volume and deep bass, but I could feel their passing in my chest. Very cool in all ways and it's something I greatly miss.
The closest I've been to experiencing that kind of power and size was three years ago when the Exporail museum and their diesel parade during Diesel Weekend. It was a CP M630, the canuckian equivalent of a C630, and of all the locos paraded, it was the only one that gave me goosebumps - over and above the thrill of having a whole load of locos of various vintages pass a mere dozen feet or so from me. The M630 was impressive by its sheer size, bulk and it was the only one that shook the ground under my feet as it rumbled by. That's one experience I'll never forget. An SD45 could top that. Or a thundering DM&IR 2-8-8-4 pulling a full load of ore down from the Missabe range.
