    Hi everyone,

Finding info for Pacific Electric passenger operations is easy, finding out info about freight operations is turning into a search for rare books.

I have all of the information about when they were acquired, but the information about where they were used, when paint scheme and letting changes happened, and basic color info is next to impossible to find.

My research has lead me to find out that there were three different types of letting, and two different paint schemes. I have to assume that they followed the Southern Pacific, but that's just a guess. Is there anyone out there with the knowledge/evidence to know when these caboose changes happened and wether or not the early P.E. caboose ever had a black roof?

YES. lol what specifics you need? I might have photos as well. I'm a huge sp and pe fan and my layout is based off that period. Refrences galore.

The PE actually ended freight service in 1964. Any surviving equipment after then was absorbed by the SP.

Metro, I know, passenger service was sold off in 1953.

I meant caboose numbers 1960-1969, the home built cars made in the years 1938-1941.

All got the mineral red. I'm going through my books digging as well as contacted a PE historian for you.

All were mineral red, later years some had orange ends. Early ones had initials and numbers, followed by the full road name in railroad roman with white grabs. The last ones had the 1958 boxcar style letters....but what years did these changes happen?

That's what I asked my buddy a PE historian. I also know somebody that was there during that time and being in his late 90s remembers seeing it but can't place when. Alot of the pictures I have are all B&W
