I had been looking at trainbaord quite a while back as i was seeking cardstock building ideas . My budget has not allowed me to simply purchase outbuilding for my train set up, most of what I have is cardstock or just plain cardboard . I have down laoded several item that TomKat posted , then saw a request to post some of what the readers had done .. to do this I had to register ,,, so here I am ..... My set up is old Lonel tubular stuff. using the original set set I got back in 1959 , most of my care are piggyback as my farther founder a trucking company about the time Iwas born named Speedway Express Ltd . When USA train came out with a G scale piggyback trailer in this livery I looked into train a bit more, then found MTH had produced a similar item in a smaller scale. I managed to get my hand on a few of them , and so got back into trains . At first along with my son , we had started in the upper portion of his barn where I had an area of about 25 feet by 20 feet - Unfortunatley before we got very far life interferred I moved out west to be with an old girlfreind and my son sold his place and moved down east to start a family . My girlfreind did not want the trains in the house, so I managed to make a 3 by 20 foot table atthe side of the house and a small 4 by 8 set up inside the garage . Winter here in Alberta is a problem so my outside table is now covered up until spring, and i can only runs train in the unheated garage when the sun warms the day up a bit. This time of the season is reserved for making things I think i migt be able to place on the train table once I get going again in the spring. At 69 it keeps me out of trouble I work four hours each morning then come home and doodle .... I have several vedios posted on YouTube , I am also a member of the OGR forum
Welcome aboard, Douglas. I can't imagine an outside layout in Calgary in winter, even though you have it covered. Tomkat provides such a variety of signage that your use of cardstock or cardboard probably produces some really interesting buildings. Do you have any photos of your craft? We love to see photos here.
