Charles, I would be interested in hearing more details please. What sort of problems did you encounter?

Not really any problems per se, I just think it's easier to mount from the top.

    Regards,
    Charles

Thank you Charles, I was trying to determine the true value of having mounting holes pre-drilled.

I suppose the holes are most helpful for people who struggle getting correct track placement.

The other reason I don't like to mount from the bottom is if you have to do some track maintenance e.g. removing or replacing a turnout it is less of a pain to unscrew from the top as opposed to flipping your module on the side. Avoids any damage to scenery or structures affixed in place.

    Regards,
    Charles

What do you do to cover the screw head if mounting from top?

    Ballast takes care of that.

Ah, ok, so you're not leaving the Unitrack bare. I don't think anyone in our club ballasts their T-Trak modules. Just curious.

IMG_7558.JPG I ballast the edges of my track, but I do NOT ballast between the ties...the screws aren't even noticeable and don't require 'hiding'.
in this module the screws are in plain sight-no ballast is covering them.

I have done the same. What ballast color, by (?) seems to match the Unitrack best?

Kato makes a ballast that matches the color of the unitrack. Part No. 24-039; msrp $9.00, online price is $6.39 200 gram weight in the bag. I use this between the single track and sometimes along the edges. Glues real nice using 50/50 white glue/water.

We changed software several years ago. Since then, those Groups are stored, inactivated. So, whatever rules...?

At present, there is still no programming available which would allow us to bring them back here. Thus, we wait...

that is not what I meant. for T-Trak you have to fallow the standards defined by the group and the wiki page in order for modules to connect.

Yes, this is important for any modular group where you plan to set up with others of the same kind. We had a nightmare in Kansas city a few years ago when one group showed up with T-Trak modules wired incorrectly according to the published specifications. The inner track was wired incorrect because they thought it made more sense and was more consistent with many other "standards" out there. When they were set up by themselves it worked, but when in a group from all over, it was a mess. I guess the intent of the standard is so you can run the whole layout on one power pack and have the trains on the inner loop going in the opposite direction of the ones on the outer loop when all modules are plugged in to the standard multiple outlet cables.

    Hello all!
We've been HARD at work organizing the T-TRAK layout at the NMRA National Train Show coming up this August in Kansas City!

The Sponsorship donations are pouring in ( we continue to solicit to guarantee a fun, free event for this year and future shows), tables are secured, commemorative mugs and plaques are designed and contracted, AND, at this moment, the layout is 80% filled with, still, 5 months left to the event!

If you still want to participate in the massive, history-making layout, don't wait to return your participant form as soon as possible! We've worked hard to make this event (participation in the NTS layout) free for all participants, including badges for the National Train Show itself, but, after May 1st, anyone who wants to participate in the layout will have to secure their own exhibitor badge from the NMRA, at a cost of $15.00.

Every participant will receive a Commemorative Mug and plastic engraved plaque, and will also be eligible for numerous contests and awards!

The layout will also feature modules from Sponsors KatoUSA and Model Railroader Magazine.

As it stands right now, even at 80% filled, the mainline run is approx 40 scale miles, making this layout (assuming everyone committed shows) a World Record breaking T-TRAK layout! The remaining 20% will add to the record.

The layout fills a space 50' x 68' and is featured right at the front entrance to Bartle Hall (Kansas City Convention Center) allowing T-TRAK and N scale to be the first layout that the viewing public will see upon entering the National Train Show!

Volunteers and infrastructure are being put into place to ensure that arrival, setup, and operations go as seamlessly as possible; allowing participants to enjoy every moment of their experience.

If you can't attend this year, please consider making a small donation to 'the cause' to help us continue to make this, and future National T-TRAK layouts always free to all participants!

PS-please fill out and return your Participant form to

    layout@t-trak.org

    Respectfully,

    Bruce M. Arbo
