I’ve been curious about 3D printed items and I needed steam power for my circa 1915 rural sawmill. This fit the bill. 3D printing is awesome!
The quality of the detail is fantastic. The rust makes it quite realistic. Congrats on your acquisition!
That's a wonderful model! I'm with Tom ... except I have not tried to make anything (have not purchased a printer, yet). Maybe someone will start a 'How to' thread in the How to forum to help those of us who are not blessed with natural talent.
If this is depicting a no longer in use machine then the rust it spot on.. But if it's supposed to be in use, I think there's too much rust..Either way it is a very nice print job..
An outstanding modeling effort Jim. I get what the model represents. The valve gear above to boiler and all is certainly a sight to behold. Is that a tool box located between the front wheels? The spokes for the wheels are worthy of mention alone. Boy, I gotta learn how to get into this 3D stuff. Please carry on my friend!
Thanks guys. That fresh coat of rust powder will tone down a lot when the Dullcoat hits it but it does represent the final season of its working life. It’s still awaiting some detail painting and general attention. Tom, I wish I could take credit for the design but you’re right, the detail is pretty nice for a 3D printed item. Especially something as complicated as steam traction engine.
