$8 would be a more realistic price than $80, and 1950's?!! If sellers get things wrong like this with items we know about are the other non model RR things they are selling the same, or is it just that they know nothing about trains? We may get a chuckle out of it, but the sad thing is that someone might actually buy these.

Either the decimal is in the wrong place, or it's full of 44 tonners. Anyone gonna offer $1, to find out?

Hmmm...The seller is Sunnyswarehouse..He sells a lot of train stuff,I've bought from him before,he's certainly not train stupid.Geez..not even a box..Really,other than Con Cor passenger sets, and MTL cars,is there anything really high dollar collectable in N? Seems you can't give away most old stuff.I have the NMRA SW set, never seen one go for any more than it was new on Ebay..

Nice find Bigford! I've seen those U50's go for super high prices before, but not that high! Wow! IMO, those have to be the lamest locomotives ever, I can't believe people pay any money for one, let alone a super high price like that! yuck!

To be fair. His starting price was just 99. But 6 bids later with still 3 days to go and almost double the price, I'd be concerned about some friend of his trying to up the price for him.

    U50 as opposed to Turbines

There were several models of the Turbine Engines...Verandas et al. The U50 only incorporated the trucks from the Turbines. Concor Veranda engines are "fairly" accurate for their originals. I believe only Overland ever modeled a smooth side turbine in brass (as in the photo). The U50 is also reasonably accurate. I disagree that these engines are worthless...with a little tweaking mine all run fine on DCC. Prices are high because these units are harder to get now and nobody has produced similar models. Contrary to popular belief, the U50's were not turbine engines, they only used the salvaged trucks.

Guess it just depends on how much you want it!! Personally I think it is a bit high by about 2X

that's not even one of the newer DCC versions, I sold a set of four of the old ones with different road numbers, and MT conversions for $60 Starting bid, and felt a bit guilty when they went for $100.
The new version can be found NIB for as little as $30-40 dollars.
