I love the Readers Digest Speed Loco being included (and all the couplers on the out of box items are broken). But hey -- everything is in NEW condition!
I ALWAYS love the Hi Speed Readers Digest locos and cars. Just that they are N scale AND Readers Digest should make them even more collectable.
Here you go. Take a Japanese locomotive; slap some Pennsy decals on it and call it 'super rare'. Pennsy never had them so that must make them 'rare'. Not only that but there are two different sizes of Pennsy keystones on the unit so that must be where the 'super rare' comes in.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KATO-N-Scal...640606?hash=item1ec544d1de:g:dRoAAOSwB-1YpO3C
That was my first thought, but I don't think so. The engine in the auction is an EF58, but the Spookshow page has EF 57, 65, 70, and 851A. It kind of resembles the 57 without porches. It could be Spookshow missed one. We'd probably have to see the box of the auctioned engine to find out.
The EF57 was done in PRR and GN paint. These closely resembled a class of electrics that were originally GN. Some were later sold to the PRR. The main difference was the spacing on the drivers. I think the GN/PRR prototypes drivers were equally spaced. I actually got two of the PRR EF57's from back in the days when I would just about buy anything with PRR on it. Winning bid was $73.00 so apparently there are still PRR people who will buy anything with PRR on it. That $73.00 is about what I paid for two of the EF57's. Maybe I should sell mine?
Looks like the seller took my request seriously......... (was $306 before my request). http://www.ebay.com/itm/282424564010 15 days left on the auction. Do you think we'll make it to $1000?
Since this seller seems to be something of a wise guy - either that or his calculator is off by a factor of ten - try the gambit of making an offer lower than your previous one just to see what move he makes next.
Wise guy? Maybe. Clown? Very likely. I won't be making any more offers on this item. Just as well, as ebay is my last resort for buying anything. This is an item that I sat on the fence on when released, and wouldn't mind picking up for a fair price. But, if that doesn't happen, I have plenty of other trains....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4400-LITTKE...759265?hash=item58f39522a1:g:OYUAAOSwQItUEkI5 here is another one of the rare don't make anymore item I will have to pass on. I find it hard to believe they are realy worth the money people ask.
THAT would be an expensive piece of equipment !! Maybe thats why that ugly little truck is so expensive !! HHMMmmmmmmmm
And you thought ebay was expensive..... https://www.amazon.com/20-654-Exten...F8&qid=1493977776&sr=8-2&keywords=kato+20-654 Of course, the shipping from the UK isn't all that bad.
and of course it is Japanese so have to add the taxes and customs fees lol. great shipping price better then some places in the states
If you scroll down the page, there is a discount offer. Knocks about fifty bucks off. Time to buy is now!
Just for kicks, I checked to make sure it wasn't a currency conversion error. Even if he meant 5,197.15 yen, that's still almost 36 pounds or $46 USD. For a cord.
