I've had a few coupler trip pins that were hanging too low and would snag on turnouts. While trying to bend them up a tiny bit, sometimes they completely come out of the coupler. I don't use magnetic uncouplers, so is there any reason I should worry about a few missing pins?

Some couplers use the trip pin as the axle for the knuckle, but since your coupler didn’t instantly fall apart, you should be fine.

Souns like these are not M/T couplers, so no problem without a trip pin.

On Atlas couplers, the first thing I do is pull the pins out.
