Oh, Happy Day! UPS just dropped off my Mianne Benchwork - the 4x8 Starter Kit and Rollaway Transformer Cart. Looks like I'm going to be busy for the next few days. Dave
I'd never heard of them either. I like it though. I've yet to buy the table pieces I need to construct my table for the new layout. Despite the price the savings in construction time makes this an option worth considering. What I want would cost the same as two nice DCC/Sound locos of which I have plenty lol.
It makes excellent financial sense too for modelers who lack large woodworking tools or the space to keep them. Sievers [ https://sieversbenchwork.com ] also makes model railroad benchwork and has been around a long time. A friend built an extensive HO layout with their products and I was very much impressed. Whether Mianne or Seivers, it's all good it seems.
Our Museum received a layout based on Mianne Benchwork. We'd never heard of it, but are very impressed. It was easy to move, just unbolt the legs, stack in truck, re-bolt the legs, and run trains. The precision of each piece is outstanding. Bolts together quickly and tightly. WOW!
Eight 40" legs, nine 46" I-Beams, twelve 22" I-Beams and the box of hardware were in the box. Box length 47", weight 45 pounds. I bought my plywood from Lowes on Monday and gave it a coat of Minwax Clear Satin polyurethane that afternoon. Assembly begins tomorrow. Dave
I completed the benchwork on Saturday. Had problems with a few of the long pins, thus the bloodstains now covered by the plywood. I ordered today cork sheets from Home Depot to cover the top. Dave
