Metra, CN replace Rock Island track

    Written by: Maggie Lancaster, Associate Editor, RT&SCanadian National (CN) and Metra have replaced track on the Rock Island Line, the 40-mile district between LaSalle Street station in Chicago and Joliet. The replacement began the evening of Sept. 16 with buses available between 35th Street and LaSalle Street stations.
    Canadian National workers replaced the tracks at the junction where the two railroads cross each other just south of Metra's 16th Street Tower in Chicago.
    Four diamonds were replaced, and Metra crews also began replacing the drainage underneath this section.
    The line has 26 stations and hosts more than 32,000 riders each weekday.
