    Hello guys,

I still have problems in converting my Zscale trains to DCC. Some have been solved, especially how to control trains (switches and signals remain analogue).

I equipped my AZL and MTL locos with drop-in decoders by Digitrax, which is quite convenient. For my Märklin F7s I use drop-in decoders by Velmo. Of course I want my locos to perform these US-typical light functions, that we don't have here in Europe, such as ditch-, mars-, or gyrolight.

This is the issue I have:

    - Märklin E8A (made by AZL) with dop-in decoder from Digitrax (DZ123Z0).
    - The decoder's original LEDs are soldered off the platine.
    - The loco's original LEDs are isolated a) from the chassis and b) from
each other, then wired to front-/reverselight-connections of Digitrax's platine.
    - I remapped the reverselight ("yellow") from F0R to F1 by CV34=0 and CV35=2.
    - I programmed the Fx3 for F1 to marslight by this CV51=034

I use an Intellibox basic, that programmes in decimal, therefore I
    recalculatet Digitrax's heximal 022 to decimal 034.

Still the LED on F1 won't behave as a marslight, but still shine
continuesly. What did I forget? Is there a mistake in CV51's value? Do I
need to set up another CV? Just to explain: The LED I use is able to be
used as marslight. I saw it at another E8a working (which is not mine, so I cannot read
    out the CVs).

    Does anyone have an idea?

Edit: Is it maybe the order of programming? I first remapped, then programmed marslight. Should I programme marslight first, then remap afterwards?

    Cheers,
    Lutz

There are only 2 functions in a DZ123. The remap of F0R (that's F 'zero' Rear to those learning the lingo) to F1 is probably possible but, if I recall correctly, the effect stays with original F0R. Are you using F1 to turn it on/off? The original F0R mapping, should be tried first. Simply program CV50 (F0R) to 34.
2 is the MARS value and 32 for 'Non Directional, ON' The '32' means that the F0R no longer is On only in Reverse, now Forward and Reverse.

    Hello Jeff,

yeah, the right order of programming did it. It kind of reminds me to Win95 times, when the order of installing programmes made the difference if they would run or not properly.
Well I reseted the DZ123Z0 decoder to factory values. Then I did the following:
    - programmed F0r to Marslight using 034dec on CV 50
    - check: Mars will blink properly when driving reverse with F0 on
    - remapped F0r to F1 by CV34 to 000dec and CV35 to 002dec
    - check: Going forward: F0 switches just main light on and off, F1 brings on correct Marslight.

I attached a photo of the wiring, if you are interested.
    I am so happy!
    Cheers,
    Lutz
