    Hello ,
my new bought Mantua Logger 2-6-6-2 with tender ,equipped with DCC and sound is a runaway loco which I'am not able to control neither by an Digitrax nor an sprog DCC system . Every time the powers comes on it try to run away with fullspeed and sound. I don't want to send it back to US . Perhaps somebody has had similar problems and can help me.
    Thanks in advance Michael

How many Throttles do you have setup? it sounds like you may have a throttle set to the same address or the loco was taken off the track while it was operating. Put it on the programming track with the command station set to program. if is shuts down you have a duplicate throttle.

    Bremner,

I forgot that a shorted decoder could also cause that problem. Thanks for catching my miss>

Dear Gary D and Dear Bremner ,
thanks for your response . I have only a single throttle with the digitrax Zephyr. I will try at the weekend the programming track option.
    - Shorted decoder: I have to open the loco and measure . You mean the output stage of the decoder could possibly has a short ? . This will be the next step to measure or try another decoder .
    Thanks for your help

Try a factory reset, or just try programming CV29 with a value of 34. I'm assuming it's a long address...? 34 will make the decoder ignore DC response and think that it's getting full power pack voltage.

    Hello Coverton , Hello Gary D ,
just programmed cv29 to 34 ( should b DCC only and long address ) . I could read this value back , so the decoder should have saved it . But nothing changed ,the loco starts to run immediately .
    Thanks for your help

Going to ask a couple of dumb basic questions here.

    Does the sound work?

Are you sure it does indeed have a decoder in it?

Dear dalebaker , there are no dumb question only such answers ( as we say here in germany )
    yes
yes ( bought it with a sounddecoder )

next I will try an reset ( should be cv125 = 1 ) and if it fails open and possibly try an different decoder .
