I've got an NCE PowerCab - I'm using JMRI and WiThrottle, as well as the handheld 66"x120" The bus is 14Ga Stranded. the feeders 22Ga stranded P - Power Feeders - I soldered wires to Unijoiners # - Turnout Address The crossovers are on a DS64 - I plan to keep them there. The #6 Turnouts are on a SMD84, with resistors. I'm going to switch them to DCC specialities and incorporate their autoswitching. I am constantly running into 8, from the wrong direction. Plus the SMD84 takes too long to charge. Nothing is glued down. I expect I will need a section of track, between turnouts 1 and 2, to use the autoswitching. Right now, I have no blocks, or circuit protection. Again DCC specialities, but I'm still reading. No more buying and regretting... The plan is to use the circuit breakers, for protection, but also, to also power down the top 2 sidings and the "yard" at thebottom right. This should allow me to run lighted passenger cars and live with no lighting control, for a while? In the middle I'm going to set up a loop, for my decoder, in a box. I spliced an MC2 into a Kato track power extender. DCC in. Motor DC out to the completely isolated track. This will let me play with DC only as i convert. I'm playing with the idea of a reverse loop somewhere or a turntable, or both... maybe just a little freight yard?
With your layout being 66 inches wide...I sure hope its gonna be in the middle of the room...so you can walk around it to get to any derailments.
It is. My wife's idea was suspend it, so it could be raised out of the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There will be no easy senicking. That's a skill I'll develop. But as for having the reach... got it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Marty, that's a great mounting idea, your wife is quite innovative. Her next concept might be to cover the underneath and hang a small chandelier to distract the occasional visiting relative from making caustic comments....not that any of her or your relatives would e-v-e-r do such a thing.
Hytec... your not my Brother in Law, Todd?!?? I'll post pictures of the bottom tonight. My plan is to cover the bottom in removable panels, either painted white, or let one of my daughters paint them. Now that the wiring has progressed, it's a bit unsightly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hank's lighting idea is interesting. You could make the underside look like a small, dropped ceiling area, (matching the ceiling above), and have a light.
1st pic shows room has lighting 2nd that's how high it goes, unless I find small clamps I trust. Then maybe I get 6" higher 3rd the mess 4th destination for the mess, next time I'm adding something (window side of layout. Layout frame blocks view. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Room for 11 trains. 5 moving. I'll be able to test them all. Definitely finding out I want decoders with BEMF! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like it! Yes, no scenery, not your traditional layout BUT you can run lots and lots of long trains!!!
It will become something with scenery. AFTER I work out all the technology Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Getting ready for show me your Memorial Day trains! The EM1 is pulling 25 cars. How often does hat really happen, at home? Sent from my iPhone
