Here's one for those intrepid readers who have read almost every old Model Railroader issue. Being the Chief Financial Officer of a well established Model Railroader Club - I find humour in the fact that our Club operating nights twice a month are usually well attended functions. Twice a month we hold work nights - and you can hear the crickets chirping. I seem to remember an old Model Railroader article that dealt with this specific topic - if anyone knows off the top of your head when this article was published - I will continue the search from there. I believe it was wayyyy back in time - but it was a tongue in cheek article regarding the curse of the "W" word.
I was just poring through a Mr from Oct. 76. Titled a little too much of a good thing. But as I skim it , it doesn't sound like your article. A searchable data base: http://www.olimpia.com:8084/SearchPage.html or this one: http://trc.trains.com/Train Magazine Index.aspx?view=ViewMagazine&magazineId=1 I am realizing that I need to begin to collect a lot more of the older Mr's as I like the old stuff. https://www.walthers.com/dvd-model-railroader-magazine-75-year-collection-1934-2009
I think I did read that article and it was one of the farther back editorials they would do called Bull Session. you might search those.
