    Hi all,

i have just got a diesel loco with LokSound decoder, I don't have more info on the decoder type, with F1 and F8 inverted. F1 is the sound On/Off and F8 is the Bell.
Any idea how to change them to the normal position?
    Thanks in advance

Easy enough to do in JMRI (sounds like this either had a European sound file, or someone did their own program). On the Function Map tab in JMRI, just find the rows for F1 and F8, and change the function columns (the order of the rows is meaningless to operations).

Thank you, I never used JMRI so far. Is it the only way?

It can also be done with the LokProgrammer, but that requires special hardware. The problem is that one needs to know the current values of each of the function map CVs to know which ones to change. JMRI Decoder Pro can read these from the decoder, and then allows you to adjust them and rewrite to the decoder displaying the info in an understandable manner, rather than decoding CV values. Since these are indexed CVs, this is the only safe way to make these changes. The other alternative is to find someone locally who is familiar with the LokSound decoders and has all the necessary equipment.

Where are you located? The LokSound Yahoo Group put together a list of people who have LokProgrammers and are willing to help folks without one. Depending on where you are, there may be someone close by willing to help.

Ah. Well, the list has people in Germany, France, Netherlands and Sweden, but no entries for Italy. Since you are in Europe, it is highly likely that you have a LokSound V.4, not a Select, and have a European or custom sound file that set F1 and F8 up for the behavior you describe. That behavior would not be normal for a LokSound Select.

If you e-mail me directly at jdcolombo@gmail.com, I have a tutorial that I wrote for doing function key reassignment and lighting effects with JMRI that I will send you. It is primarily directed at the LokSound Select, but should be useful even if you have a V.4, since the overall process for changing function key assignments is the same.
