Was able to spend a little time in the light rain and drizzle at the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society at North East PA and photo most of the equipment on display. Thought it would be good to create a thread here and share what there is to see. Hope despite the drab conditions that you all enjoy the pics.
Nice that you were able to stop by. Interesting exhibits! Neat that they have a South Shore "Little Joe" there. The below unit looks like a Lionel Tie-Jector car, doesn't it? I read somewhere that North East, PA is also a good train watching spot.
It had the name "Central Park" on it. If memory serves, the information on the car was former NYC built in the mid 1920's and was used on the 20th Century Limited.
Thanks. Being part of the Century makes sense. IIRC, the Central didn't have many named trains that ran open vestibule observation cars.
Karl Zimmerman's fine book on the Twentieth Century Limited mentions the "Central Park" as an obs car used on the train.
I will have to drive over, from Westfield, when we are there at the end of this month. Didn’t even know this existed.
I applaud the museum for saving some small structures as well. The octagonal elevated grade crossing tower and lineside shed are gems. I wonder what the story is with the cleaved-off signal background?
