Happy Monday everyone. How was the weekend? Lets get right into it. Saturday: My weekend went no where near where I wanted. With the move comes transition and that is never easy. The eye saga continued on Saturday, right in the middle of the day which really disrupts the natural flow of things. The third trip to the "eye Dr." came back with results of going to another Dr. that is a cornea and retina specialist. Which means, more appointments, more money, and this time, time off work. So much for that new pistol I was wanting. After the eye Dr. ruined my day, I came home and worked on customer repairs then went to look at a house that may work for the domestic Goddess and the two Beagles. Did I say two? Yes! Lucy now has a brother. Trooper is a Beagle/Basset mix who was a rescue and Angela picked him up Saturday. Since getting Lucy last year, Angela and I have been somewhat active in a Midwest Beagle rescue. Trooper and Lucy are getting along great and now all the rabbits of central Illinois are watching their back! Sunday: Despite the fact that I'm a semi bachelor, living with my parents til I find a place, I still have domestic duties and Sunday is still laundry and shopping day. I did however go to the not so local Harbor Freight and pick up some tools for the new job as well as see a few ghosts of the B&M. Sunday however was not real eventful. So how about you? How was your weekend? What did you accomplish? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 28th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a safe week and as always... High Greens!
I decaled an old (2003)Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 into a not quite real Pacific Electric unit and I found an old model kit in the garage.
Nothing done Friday and Saturday but Sunday, woohoo! I started ballasting the round house. Today I finish the ballasting. Reminds me I need to do a video for a local group on ballasting.
We had a surprise visit Friday night through Saturday afternoon (Our Granddaughter) - So I didn't get as much done as I wanted. However, I did make some progress on the last car for the Lark. Roof details on the 2-1-1 Observation: She's just about ready for the paint shop. I have to fill in the factory side markers. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
@SP-Wolf , that's pretty darn amazing! @Jim Wiggin - local or not, a Harbor Freight visit is usually a good thing. I Spent Saturday at the Mid Atlantic Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet. Great clinics, great conversation, and great display model. I have videos and photos to work up for my Youtube Channel, but its gonna be a few days before those are done. Sunday I helped David Vaughn run his O Scale two rail NKP as an open-house for the RPM. Every time I go down into that basement I reconsider my life-long devotion to N scale.
This past year a Harbor Freight opened in my town. I have as yet to explore. My days never quite conform to a visit there.
Roundhouse has been ballasted and has had scenic properties added. I still want to add a tree in the corner, just hard to reach the spot.
This weekend I got around to starting the bench work for the next 5 ft section of my layout. This will have a river running through almost the full length of the section with tracks on both sides.
And I can say this corner is complete. Now to finish the city street, crossing, roads and a little area needing ground foam. Here is the full engine roster for the D&SM railway.
Got a couple DRGW GP30's a little closer to being finished. After adding the usual details like the mars lights and a few broken eye bolts speed recorders, sloped and square journal boxes and such add, the factory numbers were taken off and the small Rio Grande was removed from one as well then some spot painting was done using Scalecoat II black. Appropriate decals and the many coats of weathering and dull coats were applied. The first image was taken by Brian Morris in Grand Junction CO circa 1992, (posted with permission) Below is my version of DRGW 3014 And now the 3014 Got to put the lighting packages in now and off to work they go. Thanks for looking
