Well I hope your weekend was successful. lets gather around and see how we all did.

Saturday: I was fortunate enough to sleep in until 5:30 and run into town quick for a much needed haircut. Coming home, I gathered up my list and headed to my "not so local hobby shop." The best part of the journey was observing the dash readout stating my Focus was getting 34.8 MPG. Woo hoo! I wish Jess was this good on gas. Once at the hobby shop, I quickly cleaned out the last two switch machines and picked up a bag of Arizona Rock ballast. I talked to the owner for some time on an idea he has for a new local show which I think would add nicely to our local schedule. I also spent a fair amount of time over on the "dark side" and looking at HO. I hate to admit it, but my eyes have really gotten bad the last two years and HO is looking better each year. Once home, I set out to laying track. I finished the evening with a good friend and local N scale guy by having a German feast at our local German Restaurant.

Sunday: I had the domestic duty of grocery shopping but after that, it was a pleasurable day of podcasts and laying and soldering track. I successfully finished the track work on both modules and got the one painted. I'll end up painting the other one tonight and start adding the switch machines tomorrow night. This day was finished up with pizza and a movie. All in all, a great weekend.

So how about you? How was your first weekend of March? let us know what you got accomplished and if you have pictures, post em! We'll start this process again on Friday the 9th. Until then, have a safe work week and as always...

    High Greens!

Managed to dig a few things out of stage last week. Got them a bit more organized yesterday. Still digging and hoping to locate a few other pieces I should have received. Maybe by next weekend, I will be good to go.

Well I did as I thought I would.

Friday I painted up another 100 bamboo skewers and about half a box of toothpicks to make more trees with.

    Saturday was nothing as usual.

Sunday I was a struggle. Last weekend my wife was sick and I seemed to have caught a cold from her. Between bouts of lightheadedness I was able to do a little work but not much. Today though I feel better and so it’s back to work on the road crossing. It’s almost finished. Needs a little paint and the asphalt and wallah. I did get my packages I ordered last weened too. So now I have another structure for my small town. A nice comic shop. I’m trying to decide how to arrange the buildings and road. Not an easy task it seems like.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Not to much accomplished the past few days (went into SF for a concert, Snarky Puppy at SFJazz, and getting ready for new windows to be installed in the house, tomorrow). But, was able to swap out the Bachmann DCC On Board decoder for an ESU LokPilot Micro V4.0 in this GE 70 tonner. This switcher now crawls smoothly at approximately 0.3smph in both directions.

Finally got some more work done on my TimeSavr layout. Been working on putting in a small coal yard. This is being built from an old Tyco bridge and trestle kit. With limited funds, it is being done on the cheap! Made some two ply and three ply plywood from my wife's craft sticks and used some of her 20 gauge jewelry wire!
Here is the deck with one of added walkways installed.

Made some stanchion from the wire.
    upload_2018-3-6_12-5-27.jpeg

Used a simple jig to bend them at the same point using a piece of wire inserted into a hole the right distance from the edge of my drawing board.

And then inserted them into the edge of the walkway. Here they are temporarily installed.

Took the stanchions back off and started the painting. I painted the gray "wood" sections with a wash of buff followed by all of the deck with a wash of brown (dirt), and then a heavily thinned black to get into the low sections and multiple coats to get the effect I wanted. I think it turned out fairly well. Probably the best I've done, anyway!
