Well we are back from what was for some of us, a steamy and hot weekend. Lets see how many of us took advantage of a cool work shop or layout room.

Like I said Friday, it was Jared's last club soccer tournament. We had a nice relaxing drive up old Highway 47 following the line of the old IC and current Bloomer line before getting into Yorkville for Jared's first game. A good friend and former member of the Bloomington N scale club had moved to the area so he came to the tail end of the game and we met for lunch. The name now escapes me, but the restaurant was in nearby Sandwich Illinois and was made from an old passenger car. We had a good time talking about trains and since Jared's next game was not until 6:50, we had plenty of time to hang out. Before we knew it, the second game was starting and we finished the day with dinner. Sunday was Jared's last official game as a Mid State player before going on to college. I know I have used the term bittersweet far too often lately but it was truly bittersweet to see his team together one last time. They didn't win their last game, but they played well. After a drive home, I set out getting all the freight cars organized as I want and even found a few that I plan to sell before the big move.

So how about you? How did you fare this past weekend? Let us know. We'll come back on Friday the 16th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a good week, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

As I suspected - didn't get a lot accomplished. (It was our Granddaughters Birthday weekend).
I managed to get my diesel service sand towers modified and ready for paint. That is about it.

Hope ya'll had a great and productive weekend,
    Wolf

Got most of what I planned done. Spent most of the weekend wiring the track serving the whole Albemarle City area. Dropped 30 feeders (15 locations, North and South rails), soldered them to the track, ran them back to terminal buses spotted below the table, crimped all of those dang connectors, connected the terminal buses together w/ #12 stranded copper and then got that hot.

Cleaned up and vacuumed all of the shavings from drilling holes in joists for pulling wire. The only other thing I accomplished was a couple of bumps on the noggin from forgetting where I was while working under the bench.

Also managed to run a couple of trains out and back, testing out the track work that is now "hot".

My boss is coming out from New York this week, primarily for my retirement party (16 days and counting). He has only seen photos of the layout, so is going to come over tomorrow night. So, spent the weekend cleaning the track, putting stuff away, and making sure everything is working correctly. Staged a number of trains (all with sound), so that we can run some trains while he is here.

Did have a scare - my Walthers 130' turntable refused to move! Not really sure what the problem was, but cleaned all the contacts, scraped some grunge from the geared wheel, and used a dust blaster to clean the circuit board and opto-sensor area. All working fine now.

Did a bit of scenery and detail work this weekend. Added some more signs and vending machines to the BNSF Logistics and Performance Food Group industries.....

I also weathered the roads around the two industries...

Also a bit of turf/gravel applied across from what will be a BNSF building (tan building) I think.... maybe some track maintenance vehicles parked across the street with old track, ties, ballast piles etc....

Also added some of Bob's oak trees from www.lonshadowsmodeltrees.com. Thanks again Bob, great stuff!

Well, I got to work this morning to find an offer letter from the new company. We've had one team member walk away already because the new company is handling this transition poorly. Tomorrow we find out what the benefits will be like. So far we've gotten some very generic brochures and a few vague answers which have done nothing but make folks angry.

So I'm employed again, but things are strained at work between management and the worker bees.

On the one hand that must be something of a relief. On the other hand - yeah incoming companies in a take-over usually miff stuff because they NEVER take the time needed to get to know a place and the work culture that grows there organically. Hopefully it smooths out for you soon.

@steveparkinson - Is BNSF Logistics your own creation, or have I missed something in modern railroad freight forwarding? My initial thought was its their LCL operation . . . .

Found it on the web when looking for some other logos and thought it would look great on the layout. They do have an actual website of their own though.
