I apologize for being away, lots of changes have come to the household that required me to be away so the updates did not get done.

You've heard me say before that life comes at you fast. The plan to move to New Hampshire was in full effect to the point that Jess, my Jeep was driven to New Hampshire and was registered complete with some much better looking plates (Sorry Illinois folks) and the first phase of the transition was well on its way. Then life struck. It seams in a previous life I must have done some bad things as I cannot escape the state of Illinois. Long story short, I accepted a promotion and sizable raise with my current employer if I stayed in Illinois. That meant I had to go get Jess. So a trip to New Hampshire was in order and as a result, the Weekend Updates were forgotten about.

So it looks like living in New Hampshire isn't in the cards for me unfortunately. As you all know, I really dislike Illinois but the job offer was too good to refuse. Now, onto why you're here.

Let me know what you have done the past few weeks. I have done zero model railroading so I have nothing to report. We really will get back together on Friday, July 28th and start fresh with a new weekend of model railroad plans. Until then, have a great work week and as always...

    High Greens!

@Jim Wiggin - life indeed does that to you. And the raise (and more secure job) can be an important factor, especially in this economy. I wouldn't give up on New Hampshire yet - with your son heading out of the house many things can change in the dynamic, and you both may reach a day where you have had enough.

Meanwhile we will keep benefiting from your guidance and inspiration here.

The past few weekends have had me playing handyman around the house. So, I haven't had a lot of time to get much modeling done. A little here and little there.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

Mister Jim - sorry to hear that things have not gone as planned - as you mention, that tends to happen. I suppose John Lennon's quote is the most bandied about.

We missed you! I was worried, glad to know it was just life happening rather than something more sinister.

    Welcome back!

Jim... sometimes things happen for a reason. Congrats on the promotion and raise!

Got zippo, nadda, nothing done this weekend. We went up to the Chesapeake Bay to visit friends over the weekend. This coming weekend should be much more productive. The good thing about missing a weekend or 2 here and there, is it really makes me appreciate the weekends I can devote to the layout or projects on the bench. There's no hobby like it.

I'm in the middle of a 3-week weekend, starting last July 14th. I'm going back to work on the 7th of August.

So I'll be keeping busy with trains, trains, and more trains!

On the 15th, I went to the Seaway Train Show, in Long Sault, Ontario. Other than finding a couple of locos (a GP38 and an RS-11) and a few freight cars, right away, on my way into the parking lot, I see that a couple of people have their priorities straight, including someone with some very nice artwork on his trailer:

A shame that here in Quebec, the only people allowed to have a custom license plate are us ham radio operators. Interestingly, the Alco plate is mounted on a GM vehicle... :ROFLMAO:

Since then, the RS-11, NYC 8000, has been transformed into DW&P 3609, to keep company with sister 3603, both green-and-yellow painted. Nice duo, and best of all, they're Alcos!!! :)

On a parting note this week, again at Long Sault, some kids having a little fun before opening time:

Note the engineer's "toolkit" on his belt - he must have gone to the Red Green School for Mechanics...:D
