That last bend of the corner is signalling the weekend. let's highball last stretch so we can relax in the crew quarters and talk trains for the weekend. Saturday: For the past two weeks I have been loving the gas mileage of my Focus so I'm no longer stuck at home. As much as I love Jess, she has a very healthy drinking habit! Then again, I didn't buy her for fuel economy! With that said, tomorrow I get to do something I have wanted to do for many years. I often been told by the other club members of a magical place that somehow has managed to live on in the modern world. In a small downtown north of me is an old fashioned train shop. The stories of this place has fascinated me for years. Finally I get to see this enchanted place. I'm heading out early tomorrow to pick up a good friend and fellow TB member and we are making a day out of it. There will be breakfast on the road, some light railfaning, rail archaeology and plenty of bull session. And that is before we reach our destination! As you can tell I'm pretty excited, mainly because many of these old hobby shops have gone the way of the Desoto. Sunday: Jess will get some fresh air as we are planning on getting the Christmas tree. This also means I need to finish up the O-31 MTH Christmas train display. Most of the track work and support is done, now to finish it with paint and legs and finally set it up under the tree. Lets hope everything is Beagle proof! So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, have a fun weekend, operate safely and as always... High Greens!
I hope to finish up the decoder installs in my SD-9 project. I have to hook up the lights -- then program them. Y'all have a great weekend!! Wolf
Yesterday I wired up a Nebraska Central caboose to have an operational marker light. I had to cut an opening under the roof. A weight covers the entire floor, held in by two screws. so I simply removed one screw and fed the wires down through that hole. For now, it's yucky power pickup. I just folded the resistor leads around the axles; each truck picks up the opposite rail. Ugly, but it works! I have some split-axle pickup trucks on the way though, and will also add keep-alive and directional. I also added True-Scale couplers, cut levers, and the friendly local crew.
Braving lake effect snows in the wee hours of the morning to sell trains. Its not just a job, its an adventure!
Well, I just finished wiring up 8 Red 0402 SMD LEDs, 7 Warm White 0402 SMD LEDs and 9 Red 0603 SMD LEDs. That took just about 3 hours! (Hint for wiring your own, always start with the smallest size first, then, when you get to larger, even though still tiny, feels so much easier). So, now ready to start on more decoder installations! (Not too much more work happening this weekend, though)
It’s my daughters birthday this weekend. We are heading to mesquite and Las Vegas for the weekend. I am planning on wiring starting Monday on a small section then I will move on to the next corner.
Hopefully, no crises invading on Sunday, I will get this installed here. JB weld is holding the deck to the bridge frame, and it is fairly stiff!
